Nights on Loch Lomond 30x40cm, Acrylic on canvas, London 2018
I love the night; I find it reserved and silent. I’ve made the painting after starless nights spent on the shores of Loch Lomond, a pitch-dark Scottish lake. An interesting anecdote: the verb “to desire” comes from the Latin de-sider (longing), a term that sailors used in the absence of stars. In the end, after all, what is desire if not the aspiration to the stars?
